Do I need a referral?

 

Referrals from your specialist or GP are welcomed, however it is not always necessary that you have a referral to be able to see a physiotherapist.

 

Private Medical Insurance

 

EC Sports Physiotherapy is registered with all major Private Medical Insurance Companies, including Bupa, AXA/PPP, Aviva, PruHealth, Cigna, and Simply Health.

 

Many private medical policies require that you are referred by your doctor in order to gain authorisation. It is advised that you contact your insurer for authorisation before your first appointment.

 

What to bring

 

• Comfortable and appropriate dress (e.g., shorts to change into if examining lower limbs, vest top or suitable bra if examining upper limbs etc).

• Running & work footwear, if problem relates to such activities.

• If appropriate, a referral letter from GP, physiotherapist, other referring professional, including their contact details.

• All reports, x-rays, letters etc relating to your injury.

With certain conditions, a degree of undress may be required - this will be explained at the time by the therapist. You are entitled to be accompanied during your treatment if you wish.
